Privacy Policy

The Short Version
We collect basic analytics to understand how people use our site and make it better. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t do anything creepy with it.
That’s it. If you want more details, keep reading.
What We Collect
When you visit our website, we collect:
- Pages you visit - so we know which content is useful
- How you got here - did you find us via search, a link, or directly?
- General location - country/region level, not your exact address
- Device type - desktop, mobile, tablet
- Browser type - Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.
We collect this through two services:
- PostHog - product analytics
- Cloudflare Analytics - basic traffic stats
What We Don’t Collect
We don’t collect:
- Your name, email, or phone number (unless you explicitly give it to us)
- Your exact location or IP address
- Anything that directly identifies you as an individual
- Sensitive personal information
- Credit card or payment details (we’re not selling anything yet)
Why We Collect It
Simple: to make the site better.
We want to know:
- Which features people actually use
- Where people get confused or stuck
- What content is helpful vs. what’s ignored
- If the site loads fast enough
We’re not trying to build a profile of you. We’re trying to build a better product.
How Long We Keep It
- PostHog analytics: 1 year on the free tier
- Cloudflare analytics: Per Cloudflare’s retention policy
After that, it’s automatically deleted.
Who We Share It With
We share data with exactly two third parties:
-
PostHog (our analytics platform)
- PostHog Privacy Policy
- Data stored in EU or US depending on your plan selection
- They don’t sell your data either
-
Cloudflare (our hosting and analytics provider)
- Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Handles site delivery and basic traffic analytics
- Industry-standard security and privacy practices
We will never:
- Sell your data to advertisers
- Share it with data brokers
- Use it for anything besides improving our site
Your Consent
When you first visit our site, you’ll see a notification asking if we can use analytics.
- Click “Accept” - we’ll collect the analytics described above
- Click “Decline” - we won’t collect anything (except what Cloudflare automatically logs for security)
You can change your mind anytime by clearing your browser cookies and refreshing the page.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Access - see what data we have about you
- Deletion - ask us to delete your data
- Correction - fix any incorrect information
- Withdraw consent - change your mind about analytics
The Practical Reality
Here’s the honest truth: because we collect anonymous analytics, we can’t actually identify which data belongs to you. If you visit our site without logging in or giving us your email, your data is just anonymous pageview stats.
We can delete all analytics data, but we can’t delete “just yours” because we don’t know which data is yours.
If you want to stop future tracking:
- Decline analytics when prompted
- Or clear your cookies and refresh the page
Contact Us
If you have questions about privacy or want to exercise your rights, email us:
We’re a small team, so you’ll get a real person, not a bot. We’ll respond within a week (usually faster).
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle privacy, we’ll update this page and note the date at the top.
We won’t make any sketchy changes. If we start collecting something significantly different, we’ll ask for your consent again.
Legal Stuff (But Still Plain Language)
Data Controller: Knitli Inc.
Legal Basis for Processing:
- Consent (you clicked “Accept”)
- Legitimate interest (improving our product)
Where We Process Data:
- EU and US (via PostHog and Cloudflare)
Your Rights Under GDPR:
- Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and to object
Supervisory Authority: If we somehow mess this up and you’re in the EU, you can file a complaint with your local data protection authority. We’d rather you email us first so we can fix it.
Kids’ Privacy
Our site isn’t for kids under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have, we’ll delete it immediately.
Do Not Track
We respect “Do Not Track” signals. If your browser sends a DNT signal, we won’t load analytics scripts (same as if you clicked “Decline”).
Cookies
We use one cookie: zaraz-consent
This stores your analytics preference (accept or decline). It expires after 1 year.
That’s the only cookie we set. Analytics tools may set their own cookies if you accept, but they’re from PostHog/Cloudflare, not us.
Questions?
Seriously, if something here is confusing or you want more details, email privacy@knitli.com.
We wrote this to be helpful, not to hide behind legal jargon. If it’s not clear, that’s our fault - let us know and we’ll fix it.
